My favorite childhood poem was “Wynken, Blynken, and Nod’ by Eugene Field. Little did I know at the time that I would be drawn to the sea throughout my life.

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod one night
Sailed off in a wooden shoe —
Sailed on a river of crystal light,
Into a sea of dew.

I’m a writer in love with the sea, sailing and travel. I don’t let the fact that I currently live in a Dallas suburb keep me from returning to a beach, a shore, a boat or a ship whenever possible.

Read the rest of the poem.

  1. JO, we met at Ravinia last summer. I am one of Lila’s friends and I understand you are here for the
summer. We, Allen and I, host a 3rd of July Party because that is when Wilmette has their fireworks.
I would love to invite you, and I find this is the only way I have to contact you. I need an email to
send you my corny invite. I have thoroghly enjoyed your blog on the Grand Asia tour . Thanks for
    some great writing. Ruth Hinkelman.
